Our Impact: Beauty with a Purpose

At Poppy + Lily, we believe that the rituals we practice every day should do more than just smell good—they should ground us, help us heal, and support the community around us. Our brand is built on a foundation of intentional living and a promise kept to the next generation.

The Founder’s Story: From Fog to Intention

The path to Poppy + Lily began during a period of overwhelming healthcare challenges for our founder, Chelsea. Navigating a sea of MRI scans, ADHD, and frequent medication changes, Chelsea found herself struggling with a heavy brain fog that made even the simplest daily tasks feel impossible.

She realized she needed a way to stay on track. She began by writing out daily schedules and setting small, purposeful goals. She made herself a promise: If she completed just one simple task, she would be proud. No beating herself up over what was left undone; just a focus on moving forward, one step at a time.

As Chelsea researched ways to pair psychology with mindfulness, she found a gap in the market. She wasn't looking for "new age" trends or controversial practices; she wanted genuine, science-backed intention setting. She saw that to live your best life, you have to have thought behind your actions. Poppy + Lily was born from this need to shift the mindset—taking a pause before action and cultivating a positive atmosphere every single day.

It Started with a Promise

To outsiders, Chelsea and her older sister, Sieara, may not have seemed close. They had almost no photos together on social media and were almost never seen together. Despite appearances, they spoke to one another quite often. Before the passing of her sister, Chelsea had always made a promise to her: to lookout for her children.

Two years after her death, Chelsea was still struggling to find a way to honor her older sister. She thought long and hard about what would best suit her sister’s life, refusing to let her death—due to mental health complexities that ultimately led to alcohol abuse dependency—overshadow the life she lived.

Thinking about the best way to honor her, she looked to her sister’s surviving children, Olivea and Julyan, whose childhood nicknames Livie (Olivea) and Papi (Julyan) inspired the company’s name. Originally, Chelsea intended to name the brand Papi + Livie. However, while looking through her past web designs, she came across a "fake" brand she had created years before her sister’s death: Poppy + Lily + Herb.

It struck her then—she had created a brand with nicknames nearly identical to her sister's children long before she knew she would need it. Even the last name, Herb, served as a tribute to her sister’s daughter Harmony, who passed away due to SIDS at only six months old. She took this as a undeniable sign and ran with it.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to ensuring that no child has to endure the devastation of a broken home due to mental health or substance abuse challenges.

To honor this mission, Poppy + Lily donates 10% of all proceeds to support mental health and substance abuse initiatives. We aim to provide resources for families and children, like the ones who inspired our name, who are at risk of losing a parent to these complexities.

Sustainability & Environmental Stewardship

At Poppy+Lily, living intentionally means being mindful of the footprint we leave behind. Our commitment to the planet is just as focused as our commitment to our community. We believe that personal care should never come at the cost of the environment, which is why we’ve built sustainability into the core of our production process.

Small-Batch, Zero-Waste Philosophy

By strictly limiting our runs to no more than 200 units, we eliminate the overproduction and mass-market waste common in the beauty industry. Every product is made with a specific purpose and home in mind. This zero-outsource model means every product, box, and component is created in our USA-based studio, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of middle-man shipping.

Eco-Conscious Ingredients

We prioritize organic, botanical, and cosmetic-grade ingredients. By sourcing from reputable partners—including heritage suppliers in the Pacific Northwest—we ensure that what goes into our jars is as kind to the earth as it is to your skin. This includes our commitment to child-labor-free minerals and ethical mica from suppliers like Mad Micas.

Conscious Packaging & Hardware

We choose materials designed for longevity and easy recycling:

  • Face Care: Our face care line utilizes Matte Black Glass Jars and Aluminum lids, providing a luxury feel while remaining infinitely recyclable.
  • Innovative Hardware: We 3D-print our bottle caps in-house using biodegradable PLA. These are paired with BPA-free AN/SAN airless pump bottles that are durable and fully reusable.
  • Candle Care: Our 100% natural soy wax candles provide a cleaner, toxin-free burn compared to paraffin alternatives.
  • The Essentials: From our reusable glass spray bottles to our metal straws, we prioritize the lifecycle of the product over the convenience of disposables.

Handcrafted Mineral Decor

Our trinket trays are hand-poured in our studio using Jesmonite and mineral composites. This offers a durable, long-lasting alternative to mass-produced plastics, allowing you to curate a beautiful home environment without compromising your environmental values.

The Studio-to-Door Process

  • Product Box Lab: We manufacture our own individual product boxes from USA-sourced cardstock using precision Cricut technology. To ensure durability and a luxury feel, these are finished with soft-touch film or BOPP.
  • Intentional Shipping: We ship in simple, blank mailers. By avoiding over-designed outer shipping boxes, we reduce chemical waste and keep the focus on the handcrafted product inside.

Product & Ingredients

Are your ingredients "Medical Grade"?

We use high-quality cosmetic-grade ingredients sourced from ethical suppliers around the world. This ensures our products are safe, effective, and luxurious for daily skincare rituals.

Are your ingredients organic?

We prioritize the purity of our formulas by using 90% or more organic ingredients. From our base oils to our active botanicals, we select organic options whenever possible to ensure your skin receives the cleanest, most effective care.

Where do you source your ingredients?

We search the globe for the highest quality raw materials. We are proud to source our foundational oils from heritage suppliers in the Pacific Northwest known for their generations of expertise in sustainable, high-purity production. While we maintain a private, proprietary vendor list to protect our unique formulations, we only partner with suppliers who meet our strict standards for quality and humanity.

How do you ensure your minerals are ethical?

Transparency is a core value of Poppy+Lily. We are committed to child-labor-free mining. For example, we source our vibrant colors from Mad Micas, an industry leader renowned for their strict ethical stance and commitment to human rights.

Note: While we highlight these primary partners, this is not an exhaustive list of our global and USA-based suppliers.

Why don't you share your full supplier list?

To protect the "in-house" heritage nature of our brand and our proprietary formulations, we do not share our full list of vendors. We have spent years researching and vetting our partners to ensure that the Poppy+Lily experience remains exclusive and of the highest possible quality.

Packaging & Sustainability

What materials do you use for your face care line?

For our face care collection, we prioritize luxury and preservation. We use Matte Black Glass Jars to protect our sensitive face creams from UV light degradation. These are paired with Aluminum lids, ensuring your products stay fresh and potent while utilizing 100% recyclable materials.

What makes your bottle caps different?

Our caps for our airless pump bottles are not mass-produced plastic. We 3D-print them in-house using biodegradable PLA (Polylactic Acid). Derived from renewable resources like corn starch, these caps provide a custom, high-end finish without the long-term environmental footprint of traditional petroleum-based plastics.

What kind of airless pump bottles do you use?

We use premium BPA-free AN/SAN airless pump bottles. We chose these specific materials because they are durable, crystal-clear, and chemically resistant. The airless technology ensures your skincare stays potent and uncontaminated by preventing air exposure.

Are your bottles and jars reusable?

Absolutely.

  • Glass Jars: Our matte black jars are heavy-duty and perfect for repurposing once they are empty.
  • Airless Pumps: Our bottles are designed for longevity and are fully reusable. We encourage our customers to clean and give them a second life in their home.
Can I recycle my packaging?

We strive to make our packaging as eco-friendly as possible, but because we prioritize luxury and durability, some items require a little extra care:

  • Product Boxes: To ensure your boxes stay pristine and oil-resistant, our USA-sourced cardstock is finished with Soft Touch film or BOPP. While the cardstock itself is recyclable, these premium films are a type of thin plastic. We recommend reusing these beautiful boxes for storage; if you choose to recycle them, please check with your local facility regarding "laminated paper" or "mixed materials."
  • Face Care Jars & Lids: Our Matte Black Glass Jars and Aluminum lids are 100% and infinitely recyclable.
  • Bottle Caps: Our 3D-printed caps are made of biodegradable PLA. These are best processed in industrial composting facilities rather than standard plastic recycling bins.
  • Airless Pump Bottles: These are BPA-free AN/SAN plastic. They are highly durable and designed to be cleaned and reused multiple times. If you must dispose of them, they are generally accepted in standard plastic recycling.
  • Mailers: We ship in simple, blank cardboard boxes which are fully and easily recyclable in your curbside bin.
Pro-Tip for the "Eco-Conscious" Customer

If you’re looking to recycle your product box, you can often peel the thin Soft Touch or BOPP film away from the cardstock. Once separated, the paper core can go straight into your paper recycling!
